Art 101: Session 8

Hello! Here is yet another art post. I’m surprised we are only 8 sessions in, when I’m currently on session 23 while writing this. This is getting into perspective territory, which I am really not a fan of. I don’t like most of these sessions, doing them, or how they came out. However, here they are anyways.

This session was our first in depth look at one point perspective. Last session was our introduction to it, but this is much more in depth than that. This was also our introduction to two point perspective.

If you don’t know, one point perspective is when all of the lines that aren’t parallel to the sides of the paper all point to one vanishing point. Two point perspective is the same thing, but with two vanishing points.

Photo reference of all the boxes I drew. Setting them up was a lil hard.

We were supposed to set up a table in one point perspective, with at least 3 boxes on top placed in two point perspective. Setting up the boxes was kind of hard, mainly because they kept tilting. I knew this would make it harder to draw, so I tried to make sure they didn’t tilt.

We actually didn’t have to do a finished drawing for this session, and we only had to photograph the stages of our sketch, one with just the table, and one with the boxes and table.

Here is my sketch of the table. I really didn’t like drawing this.

These sessions about perspective were the least enjoyable and the most difficult so far for me. I had a lot of trouble with the technical aspect of things, but I do think this will help me in the long run with my art. After doing these session, I realized that I probably was not using perspective correctly in any of my previous paintings and other art.

Sketching the table was pretty difficult, but I finished it pretty quickly. I didn’t have any motivation to try to fix any of it, since I already didn’t like doing it in the first place. I also figured it was good enough haha. Looking back at all of this I realize that I definitely could’ve done a much better job, and I’m excited to redo this in the future.

Here is the finished sketch, and I really don’t like it haha.

I think the proportions are really off, but I didn’t really know how to fix it. Even if I did, I don’t think I would have been willing to spend another 30 minutes on this sketch. I should have just redone the whole thing, but I ended up submitting it. Posting this session frustrates me a little bit, but I want to share my progress with you guys, no matter how bad or embarrassing I think it is.

Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! I’m so happy that I get to share all of this with you guys, and it would mean the world to me if you felt inclined to share my blog with anyone you think may be interested! Thank you for reading!

Me, still happy to be sharing with you guys!

P.S. Here are the pictures of Jack, just like I promised. I’m going to be including these after every art post, and I’m really excited to share him with you guys because he is so cute and I love him so much.

Here is Jack laying all comfy in his little bed on top of a dresser.
Here he is sitting under the table again, sitting on top of the sheet.

I love him so much!
