Art 101: Session 13

Hello! Welcome back to my art posts, where I talk all about what we are doing in my college art class. I liked this session a lot better than the last session if I’m being honest. There was more complicated objects involved in this one, which made drawing them a lot more fun and interesting than the last session, which almost had no variation at all.

The last session was only an air drawing, which means the person drawing it only draws the space where the objects are not, the negative space. This session we also had to do that, but with more complicated objects. Then, we also had to do a line drawing of the same scene.

Here is the reference for the drawings. We had to put a cord through the scene, so I used the cord connected to the sewing machine pedal, which is not pictured.

I used the right size paper for this session, which also made it more enjoyable than the last session. In the last session, I accidentally used larger paper than I was supposed to, and my arm ended up hurting and I ended up using a lot more graphite than I wanted to.

Here is the finished air drawing. I like how it turned out, but I know it is not very accurate.

I actually enjoyed doing both the air drawing and the line drawing, which was a relief. It has been a while since I enjoyed doing a session. Most of them were perspective drawings, and I was not into doing that at all.

I did not add all of the details in the line drawing, but I think I added enough haha. I know that the bottle of bubbles, the controller, and the can at the very left of the drawing are not very accurate, but I still like this drawing. I think you can actually tell what all of these things are, which is usually my goal.

This is the finished line drawing, and I like it. I’m surprised I still like it, since I rarely like things that I draw. Especially since I know I could do better.

I do want to completely go through all of these sessions later in my life, mainly so I can practice all of these things again and so I can see how much progress I have made. I’m looking forward to redoing this session since I liked doing it this first time.

Here is the complete reference of all of the items. I like how it ended up looking, which is why I took a picture.

Every time I do a session, I feel like I am making progress in my art skills. This makes me feel really good and I am glad that I chose to take this class. I will also be eventually taking more classes related to art, even though they do not help my degree, just because I really want to learn as much as I can about art.

This wore down my pencils less than the last session, but more than I expected. It’s satisfying to see how much of the pencils I use, in my opinion.

That is the end of the art post for this week! We are almost halfway through and I’m really happy that I have been this consistent with posting. I hope you guys enjoyed this, and if you have any comments, please leave them below! I respond to all comments that everyone makes.

Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! I am so grateful to have people who want to learn these things about me, and I hope my content will only get better in the future!

Thank you for reading!

P.S. Here are the pictures of Jack! We just got him a new fancy water fountain to try and get him to drink more water. I really hope he likes it, and I’m really excited to try and take pictures of him using it. I know it will just be so cute.

Here he is all cuddled up on my nice blanket. I tried for a long time to get him on my bed, and now he is finally doing it! Definitely not when I am on the bed with him, but I am grateful for the steps we have made.
Here he is laying on the blankets at the foot of my bed. I have those there in case I get cold in the middle of the night. I doubt that will happen during the summer, so I should probably put those away for now. I think this was his gateway drug to sleeping on the blanket on my bed haha.

  1. That was a complicated drawing! It’s very interesting, the various ways you drew it. I think you did very well! Jack looks very cozy.

    1. Thank you! Yeah, it was more complicated than the other kinds of drawings we have been doing recently. I think I like this one as well. He does haha, he looks pretty cozy all the time. I wish I could be as cozy as he is all day. Thank you for commenting!
