Art 101: Sessions 29 and 30 (Last Sessions!)

Hello! This is the very last post I will ever make on my Art 101 class! These are the last sessions we did of the semester and I won’t have anything left to post about after this one.

I am also changing the format of my posts and posting schedule, so this was about to come to a close anyways. I’m super excited to change things up and hopefully it’ll help my blog grow even more! Anyways, onto the post.

For these sessions, we first had to make a planar study of our face. That basically means figuring out where hypothetical planes would be on our face and sketching those in to make it more simple than curving lines and contours.

Here is my reference for the planar study. We did have to use our own face.

I really don’t think my planar study came out very well. I have had a lot of people who haven’t seen the reference say its really good, which is understandable. I do know I need to practice this, like every other thing I’ve done in this class.

By itself, the planar study isn’t that bad. It reminds me of some contemporary art or whatever they call it where people do similar things, and also old masks that look similar to it. I’m not disgusted when I look at it, so it can’t be that bad, right?

Here is the planar study. I think it looks interesting by itself.

The next session was drawing a self portrait. My grade was really, really good and I didn’t want to do the last session anyways, so I didn’t do it. I don’t regret my decision even though it was a very hard one to make at the time.

Anyways, that’s the end of this super short post since I have nothing left to talk about haha. I think this class helped me a lot and also helped me see my own weaknesses and strengths.

Thank you all so much for reading my last art blog post for a while, and I appreciate every single one of you! I’ll see you guys in the next one!

My hair is super faded now but I still like how it looks. I’ve also given myself 2 haircuts since I got it dyed, but you can’t really tell the difference.

P.S. Here are the last pictures of Jack for a while. I include these at the end of every Art 101 post that I make, just because I love him so much.

Here he is being super cute and laying down, I started to get closer, and then I got the next picture.
He started walking up to me! I’ve always wanted to get pictures of him like this so I was so happy I got these.
I took this while he was sleeping since his little tooth sticking out was so cute. This is one of my favorite pictures of him.
