Hello! This is yet another post about what music I have been listening to lately. I really do enjoy making these posts since they allow me to talk about music I like. I also have some updates since the last post I made talking about my music rut that I was in, so that’s nice.
I will be cutting this post into four sections: Marduk, New playlist, and the Headbanger Halloween Spotify playlist. I have been trying to listen to more new music recently, so I can both expand my horizons and also have more things to talk about, so here we are.
Marduk
I had actually listened to a few songs from this band a while ago, but never really got into them. I did start listening to them again recently, mostly because there is a shirt from them that I really, really wanted, and figured I should probably become more familiar with their music before I buy a shirt haha.
Marduk is a band from Sweden and formed in 1990. They are a black metal band, which is interesting again. I thought for a while that I didn’t really like any black metal, and mostly liked death metal, but I’m becoming really partial to a few black metal bands.
Some of their songs are in English, some of them are not. I really like the sound of them in general, it’s very heavy which, as you all know, I really like. Thinking about it now, it’s getting a little bit harder for me to tell which bands are black metal and which ones are death metal. I know the general characteristics of each, but some from each genre do not follow that formula.
I really, really do like this band and it would be a great honor to be able to see them live one day, but I’m not sure if they are touring anymore. If they are, I will definitely make an effort to see them eventually. I will link some of their songs from YouTube below so you all can listen to them if you’d like. I also did end up buying that shirt that I wanted, and I do not regret the purchase at all.
My Own Playlist
I mentioned in the last WTHHILT (What The Heck Have I Listening To?) post that I made that I was in a music rut and didn’t really want to listen to my old music or any new music. I did want to listen to some songs I had on my old Spotify account, but I knew that would be an effort to acquire. However, I did end up putting all of those songs in a playlist so I could access it from any account.
I did make an entire playlist with every single one of my liked songs from my old account, and I also made one playlist with all of the songs that I missed from that playlist. I will link both below. i missed you is all of the songs and panic is all of the songs I really missed the most.
A lot of these songs had LGTBQ+ themes, and I was missing that a little bit. A lot of the music I usually listen to doesn’t have themes at all similar to this and doesn’t even really have the same vibe. I was missing the music as a whole and was really excited to make this playlist so I could finally start listening to it again.
I will be linking the playlist at the bottom of this section if any of you are interested in checking it out. I really did like these songs and I’m glad I reclaimed them. I do hope to add to it in the future, and I will probably be updating it soon. Honestly, I would rate this playlist pretty highly just based on how much I missed the songs. I will also be listing some of my favorite songs from the playlist at the end of this section.
Headbanger Halloween by Spotify
Spotify makes their own playlists based off of genres or decades or themes, and this one was (I thought) about Halloween themed songs that also happened to be headbangers. I thought that was a really interesting concept and I was really interested in listening to it.
Therefore, I had really high hopes for this playlist. And, it actually ended up being super disappointing haha. Half of the songs weren’t even headbangers, they were just normal rock songs or even like slower ballads, and none of them really had anything to do with Halloween specifically. All of them just had Halloween related words in the title like “vampire” or “werewolf” without actually being about Halloween.
I was listening to this playlist with my mom in the car while we were driving around, and we listened to about an hour of it, and we were just not vibing with it at all. I was really sad that this playlist ended up like this since I was super excited to listen to some really cool Halloween songs.
I guess I’ll just have to end up making my own Halloween playlsit. I have made some before, but none of them really had music that I would listen to now. One of them was really just Halloween sounds and stuff, which was not a vibe. I hope this hypothetical future one will be even better.
At the end of every Music Tuesday WTHHIBLT post, I want to add some bands that I’d like to get into but haven’t yet. There is no guaruntee that I will get around to these soon, if ever, but I think it will be a fun way to keep track of my taste in music and how it changes. Plus, if I do end up listening to those bands, I can write about them in a future post!
