Hello! This post will be all about the work we have done so far inside the van. I have been doing a lot of research about the different systems and amenities I need / want in the van, as well as spending a lot of time at the ambulance as well.
I think this is the first real update post that I have done on the inside of the van. I have worked a lot on the engine and outside stuff before, but all of my posts about the inside have just been plans. Now here they are, much more fleshed out than before, and I am ready to work.
I have drawn diagrams of all sides of the ambulance, inside and out, and have measured about half of them completely. I have not measured the ceiling, or any of the outside yet. My fiance has been helping me record all of the measurements, and he has been a great help. I have wanted to do this for a while, because sometimes I am not at the ambulance, but trying to plan something, and I don’t know the exact measurement of something that I need. This has already solved that problem several times.
Here are some of the finished diagrams:

In my previous post, I mentioned how most of the cabinets that are in the ambulance right now are really hard to work with, and keeping them would mean a very irritating future of storing things in them. I took some pictures of those, and here they are:

I also found out that two of the cabinets open nicely, so I can completely clean the whole inside, and depending on how easy they are to save and how heavy they are, I might reuse those in my build in the future. I like the idea of having something originally from the ambulance in my completed build.

There are a couple other things that I would like to keep, both because they are cool and also very functional.
There is one cabinet right next to the side door that is accessible both from the inside and the outside that I am planning on storing shoes and other outside things. Such as a camping stove, a backpack, and other stuff I can’t think of right now.

I would also like to keep the cabinet on top of that, which is just a little cabinet, but I see no reason to get rid of it, and it also locks which is nice.
I will probably keep some of the biohazard containers, and maybe part of the bench to make into a cabinet on the other side of the side door, but I am not too sure about that one right now.
Additionally, I might keep the attendant’s chair, which sits in the house, facing the back doors, but I am not too sure because it is not the most comfortable to sit in for long periods of time and I want to be able to do that. I will definitely be putting a different chair there though if I do get rid of it, and keep the seat belt that came with it.
I will also probably be keeping one set of the seat belt components that came with the bench to use for the one other chair that I want in the ambulance.
Ideally, it would be amazing to have two seats in the back of the ambulance, one for me and one for my fiancé. We both want to do remote work, and this would make that a lot more doable, rather than sitting on the bed or in the front cab all the time. That sounds like it would get irritating and uncomfortable rather quickly.

All in all, so far, we have measured almost all of the inside of the ambulance to better help plan and prepare what I want to do with the inside. I am really happy with the progress we have made, since it is honestly a lot more than I have ever done before with the inside.
My next post will be about all of my newfangled ideas of what I want in the van. I am excited to make that one. Thank you for reading my post and I will see you in the next one!
You’ve been doing a lot! That’s great. I was afraid you wouldn’t have enough time to work on it. It’s also great that you have help! 😁 I’ll be anxious to see results when you get things going on the inside. It’s a heck of a lot of work. You’re brave!LG
