All About Me!

Hello! Welcome to another blog post! I wanted to make a little post introducing myself, talking about my campervan journey and a few important things about myself. I know a lot of you already know who I am, but I wanted to make this post anyway.

When I was younger, in middle school, I really did not know what I wanted to do with my life at all. I didn’t really want to go to college, didn’t know what kind of life I wanted, didn’t know what I wanted to be, and didn’t even know where I wanted to live when I grew up.

I still don’t know the answers to a few of those, but I think I am on the right track to figuring it out now.

A picture I took at Zion National Park. I traveled here with my parents and it was amazing.

I did end up realizing a couple things about myself at the end of middle school/beginning of high school that spurred me to want to live in a van.

One was that I really had no idea what any of the states were like or what kind of landscape they had. I had traveled a bit, but not to many states. On one occasion, I was traveling with my mom to Oklahoma for a music festival and we drove through Arizona. Previously, I had thought Arizona was all deserts and no trees and no greenery at all like where I lived in Nevada.

This is a picture my parents took of me at Yosemite a few years ago, this was also a really nice trip, if not cold haha.

While we were driving, we passed snow, a forest, and mountains. I honestly had no idea any of this stuff was in Arizona at all. This really got me thinking about how little I knew about all of the states, and how I would love to learn more about them. I figured that it would be great to learn some more about all of the states before I ever decide where I want to settle down.

A picture of me at Zion, it was also pretty chilly here.

Another thing I realized about myself around this time is that I love going to music festivals. Not so much the EDM kind, even though I still do enjoy those, but the metal/rock/punk/emo kind. I went to my first festival with my mom in 2019, and that was Warped Tour. I absolutely loved that, and then my mom and I went to 2 more festivals that same year, Rocklahoma and Aftershock.

I really felt at home at these festivals, and that made me realize that is something I definitely want in my life. One downside to this though is that going to festivals is very expensive, especially when you consider travel and hotel rooms on top of the festival tickets and meals. I knew that I would not be able to afford this just working a regular 9 to 5 if I was going to a bunch of festivals all the time, so I had to figure something out.

This was taken at the Aftershock festival this past year. It was an amazing time.

One more thing that I realized at this time is that I never want to live my life working for someone else. I had one job at a car wash, and it was extremely understaffed, minimum wage, and all of the management was awful. For example, I got a dollar raise for doing the bare minimum. I was also having to pick up the slack of all of the other people in my position because they didn’t do their job at all.

Another big downside to this job is that it left me constantly exhausted. Both physically and mentally. I was also going to school full time and working full time, so I would be falling asleep at school, not being able to focus in class, and not being able to complete my assignments either. My mental health was taking a huge hit because of this job.

Me at work haha.

I know this is super common in entry level jobs, but it infuriated me to work for this company that did not care at all about me. After I left this job, I decided that I would not work for anyone else as long as I could. I would make my own money and be my own boss.

All three of these reasons combined led me to the final realization that living in a van would work for the kind of life I wanted to live. Being able to travel the states, not having to pay expensive rent, and being able to work for myself, it all seemed like the perfect plan, so I started looking for a van. I ended up with my ambulance and I could not be more happy with it.

A picture I took at Yosemite. I really loved being there.

A few other things about me are that I have 2 associates degrees, one in business and the other in diesel mechanics, I love to create in any kind of art form, and I love listening to music, which was probably obvious if you read through this whole post. I’m also a super organized person who is always making schedules and lists, and I enjoy all kinds of music, but my favorite is emo and pop punk that I can sing along to.
