Where I Get my Clothes and Ideas

Hello! This blog post is going to be separated into two sections.

      Where I Get My Clothes

One of the main parts of my art is painting clothes. This also means that it would not be very condusive to selling relatively cheap clothing to buy it all new. This is the main reason that I have gotten all of the clothes that I have painted on and plan to paint on. I also am not a huge fan of fast fashion, and would much rather buy from small brands and thrift stores anyways. I have found that there is a whole lot more variety in the clothes that I can find in a thrift store than I would be able to find in a department store. The huge selection of clothes in thrift stores also helps me generate new and unique ideas of what to paint on them. I do not think that this would be the case if I walked into a department store to find a much smaller selection of different styles and clothes to choose from, even though they would have a lot more inventory of the things that I like.

In the future, I would like to continue to buy most of my clothes from thrift stores, but also expand into local garage sales and things like that. I also realized that some of the things I want to do with the clothes I am painting is put extra fabric on it. I thought about buying plain shirts from thrift stores to do this with, but I realized that this might be a lot more expensive than just buying fabric from the craft store. Until I am making a profit, I will probably just buy fabric to do this with. However, when I do start to make a profit, I will definitely start reusing old shirts from garage sales and thrift stores to make my clothing completely recycled.

      Where I Get My Ideas

A lot of my recent inspiration has mainly come from different artists on Instagram. I will make a future post going more into depth about this, and explicitly mentioning the artists that have influenced me the most in the past few months. A lot of these artists that have inspired me have introduced me to something new. Whether it be putting something together in a differnet way, making something I had never seen before, or introducing ideas in a whole new way. I am so thankful for all of these people helping me find what I want to do and what I like.

Thank you so much for reading my blog post, and I will see you again next week!

    1. Thank you so much! I am really looking forward to getting back into painting and selling clothes. I have some really cool ideas and I think taking a short break from it has let me come up with other new creative ideas both for clothes and other mediums. 🙂
