Holiday Present Idea #2 – Memory Notecards

  Hello! This is the second blog post in this series of holiday present ideas, and this one I am not actually doing this year, but I did do it last year. 

    This idea is memory notecards. Basically what this is is where I try to remember all of the memories from the past year that I have with one of my friends, and I write it down on a notecard. On the other side of the notecard, I either find a picture from that day or I draw us from that memory.

Also included in these notecards were a bunch of memes and other pictures that remind me of that person. When I was done with all of the notecards, I made a little template to hole punch the same spot in all of the notecards and I connected them all with a metal ring. I thought this was really thoughtful and I enjoyed making them. 

    Last year when I made these, I made four for all four of my friends at the time. This is a very time consuming present idea, and I think all of them took about four weeks total to make. Of course, I was not working on all of them constantly, since I had school and homework to worry about, but I did put a ton of time into every one.

When I gave them to their respective receivers, I put them all in a box much bigger than they were and stuffed it with comics that my gramma gives me from the newspaper. Everyone really liked their presents, and I would definitely do this idea again. 

    This year, I am not making these notecards again unfortunately. After last year, I was pretty motivated to make the notecards as the year went on and I hung out with everyone, but then quarantine happened. This made me very unmotivated to do these, and I was not hanging out with anyone for months at a time anyways. I have hung out with my friends this year, but not nearly enough to make a book of notecards to give to them this year, so I opted for some other things. 

    Once again, since quarantine is over, I want to be motivated next year to do something like this again and do them as the year goes on so it is not super difficult to remember everything and do all of the work at once. However, I may not do notecards and may opt for some other method of memory keeping. I will keep you guys updated next year about what I decide to do for people. 

    I think that this is a really thoughtful gift to give for people, especially since there has to be so much thought put into it. I really enjoyed making these and giving them to people. I wish I could have done them this year, but hopefully I will get to do them, or something similar, again next year.
