All About My Mexico Trip!

Hello! This is a new kind of post that I haven’t made before, but I would like to make a bunch more of in the future after I have my van. This will be about my recent trip to La Ventana, Mexico. I have not had any of these kinds of posts yet because I have not travelled since before the pandemic on any kind of vacation-like trip.

This is yet another one of my posts that you guys chose through a poll! I really appreciate everyone who votes on these, since it helps me make decisions and find out what you guys want to see in my posts more often than not. If you would like to participate in the next poll for next week, here is the link: https://strawpoll.com/cd9pgffvp

Soon, I hope to be travelling more for fun and not just for responsibility things, so I will be writing more of these posts in the near future. The pandemic really threw a wrench in a lot of people’s travelling plans, including mine, so I will hopefully be up and travelling soon, when it is safer to do so.

I am not really sure how to write this post, since I have never written one like this before, but I am going to try my best and if you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to leave them in the comments down below. I love to hear from you guys and I want to improve my writing as much as possible.

The first thing I am going to be talking about in this post is why we went on this trip. I went on this trip with my mother, and a few of her friends. One of her friends invited us to stay at a house on the beach that her friend owns, for a more discounted rate than usual. This was a huge opportunity, so we jumped on it.

Also, my parents wanted to give me something for graduating high school, but we did not have any good ideas. This was decided to be my graduation present, and I loved it. I am so grateful that I got to go on this trip. Since the whole pandemic was happening, I do not think that we would have thought of anything as good.

This is the view right off the back porch of the house. It was so nice to be so close to the beach.

We stayed at this house on the beach in La Ventana that the friend of a friend owns, but does not live in. This house is usually rented out to groups for a very high price to stay a week to weeks at a time. It was a beautiful home and I never would have thought that I would be staying in a house like this in my entire life.

This is what the back of the house looks like. As you can tell, it is right on the beach which was super nice.

The house had three main house parts with seven rooms total, and was in a very skinny, long plot. The walls of the house were built up against the plot line, so the space was maximized. It definitely did not feel as small as the plot when you were just walking around the property.

This is the inside of the back house, which we stayed in. It was so nice to walk out of our room and see the beach. It was also super nice that it wasn’t such a hassle to visit the beach.

There were also two chefs that came and cooked for us every night, which was really nice. We got four different things every night, and this introduced me to a lot of new foods that I had no idea that they existed or what they tasted like prior to this trip.

La Ventana is famous for the winds during the day that enable kiteboarders to surf for hours at a time in the bay. Many kiteboarding competitions take place here, and we saw hundreds of kiteboarders almost every day that we were here. Some of the people in our group even took kiteboarding lessons for a few days, and that was really cool to watch.

This is the view from the back of the house, and you
Learning how to kiteboard! The first day of lessons is entirely on the land, and the second day of lessons is in the water but with no board, and then the third day is finally in the water with the board.

Some of the things we did include lounging around, driving to another city to stay a night there, going to a resort to spend some time on a different beach, visiting some hot springs that were relatively close to the house, having dance parties in the night, etc. We did a lot of fun things and I wish that I could stay there for months at a time so I could experience everything I did not get to at the time.

Me and my mom at the hot springs! We would not have found these if one member of our group had not already known about them. We spent a while digging one out so everyone could fit in it, and it was a really nice experience.
I had never been to hot springs before, so it was really interesting to see where the boiling hot water was coming in and mixing with the cool ocean water.
A few of the people in our group came here again at around midnight to use these hot springs when the tide was lowest. Me and my mom didn’t go because we figured the rocks around them would be really dangerous in the dark since they were already pretty dangerous in the light.

We ended up staying in a city across the peninsula one night called Todos Santos. This was a really beautiful city, and it was right next to the beach. The first day we were there, we walked around the town and discovered this tiny marketplace that was super long with a whole lot of items. The second day we were there, most of the group went fishing in little fishing boats for about half of the day. Me and my mother stayed behind and went with another member of the group into town.

The long marketplace! I did not end up buying anything here, but I did really want a couple of the bathing suit cover up shawls, but I did not think they would be short enough to not drag on the ground.

We went to the local store a few times, and that was a little bit difficult because none of us really spoke any Spanish and none of the people who worked there really spoke any English. One highlight of visiting the local market was the cow that was in a doorway at the back. My mom got to feed it, and this was honestly a big highlight of the trip.

Store cow! This was really fun, and none of us expected to see a cow randomly in the back of the store!

During the first night at dinner, the owner of the house told us that we have to make sure the back door is locked up every night because there are cows on the beach sometimes and they can get in. Throughout the entire trip, I wanted so badly to see a beach cow, but I didn’t until the last day. On the day we were leaving, we saw two cows right at the back door. It was almost like they were saying goodbye to us.

Beach cows! They walked around the beach, and eventually made their way pretty far down the beach just grazing on the grass in the plants on the sand.

Almost every day, me and my mom watched the sun rise and the sun set. This was a goal of ours that we made before we even knew if we were going on the trip or not. It ended up being pretty difficult to wake up at 6 am every morning, since we would go to bed pretty late every night. However, we did end up making most of the sun rises.

Here is one of the sunsets in Todos Santos. This was one of the two best sunsets we got to see, and I wish sunsets could be this beautiful every night.

There were some things about this trip that I really liked and some things that I did not like that much. This next section of the post is going to be talking about those things.

The main things I liked during this trip was everything we got to see, how close the beach was to the house, and how fun all of the people we were with were. The whole experience was a lot of fun and I learned a whole lot. Making connections with all of these people was a lot of fun and I made a bond with every single one of them.

I’m really excited to go back, and I will be much more prepared the second time since I know exactly what it will be like and exactly what to bring. We expected the water to be warm, but it was cool. I hope that next time we come, it will be warm, but I will be prepared for it to be cool.

The main things that I did not like that much was the fact that there was pretty much one car to the whole group, so if you wanted to go somewhere, you either had to make sure no one else was going somewhere soon, or that no one wanted to go with you. I wish I could have explored the main town more than I did, but I am pretty sure that I will eventually go back sooner or later.

I also did not like how difficult it was to come across food. Since we had to use the car to go to the market, we did not go that often, and there was not a whole lot of food in the house for the first couple of days. I did not like that I had to forage for food in the morning, and that I did not have any control over what I ate for meals.

Overall, I had an amazing trip and I hope that next time I go it will be even better. I know what to expect, and I think that I would also love to visit La Ventana in my van when I finally get that up and running in the hopefully near future. The whole experience was great and I am so grateful that I got to go on this trip.

Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for new blog posts, please leave me a comment below! I really love hearing from all of you.

If you would like to participate in the poll for next week, here is the link: https://strawpoll.com/cd9pgffvp I would really appreciate if you wanted to vote, since it helps me figure out what kind of posts you guys like and want to see more of.

P.S. If you would like a custom ashtray, the general pricing for just color and glitter in my medium to small molds would be $12 locally in Vegas, and $4.25 extra if I am shipping it to you. This would be $3 extra if I am using a larger mold, since it takes more resin to make. The general pricing for color, glitter, and flowers or a picture or whatever else you want me to put in it would be $15 locally in Vegas, and $4.25 extra if I am shipping it to you. If you would like me to add a magnet in the bottom or the sides, that would be $5 extra. If you wanted something that had more stuff than this, the pricing varies.

  1. I’m really glad you had the opportunity to go. It’s rare to get such good deals so you gotta grab them! Sounds like it was as lot of fun!
