Plans for Making and Painting Clothes!

Hello! It has been a while since I have posted anything about painting clothes, but I am now motivated again to talk about it! I do want to start painting clothes again consistently, mainly because I already have a lot of cool ideas that I can implement very quickly. I also want to start making clothes again soon, but that will take a little while longer since I have to learn more about how to do it.

This post is going to be filled with my plans for both making and painting clothes, hopefully in the near future. I have a whole lot of ideas for both of these, and I hope that I have the time and the motivation to complete them soon so I can start selling them.

Making Clothes

The first thing that I should probably do before I make any clothes is to watch a bunch of videos about how to sew your own clothes, and also about sewing in general. I do really want to make more clothes, but I definitely need to learn how to do it better than I already do.

Not my sewing machine, but something I hope to do with my sewing machine!

If you have any tips or tricks or advice for sewing for beginners, please leave them in the comments because I need all the help I can get! If you also have any comments or suggestions, please leave those in the comments as well because I always love to hear from you guys.

I do have a lot of fabric that I could use for this, so that will not be a problem. One small problem is the fact that I do not have a very large workspace in my house, which would be ideal for spreading out my fabric and materials and stuff. However, I am working on this and it will change soon so that will not be a problem anymore.

Not my fabric, but I wished my fabric all looked as neat as this!

It would probably be a good idea for me to keep a small sketch book of ideas for clothes that I want to make. I have a whole lot of cool ideas that I think would look really awesome, but since I do not write them down, they consistenly get forgotten. This would also help me choose what to make next once I am actually consistently making clothes.

There are a lot of different types of fashion notebooks, but here is one that I really like. I will not be designing whole outfits yet, but that might actually come sometime in the future if I do get the itch for it.

Also not my notebook, but I think this is a really cool design of a notebook

The planned schedule right now for making clothes is to take the next month to learn how to actually do it, and then make one piece a month. I know that this does not sound like a lot, but I do have a ton of other things to do and making clothes, for me, can take a really long time.

Painting Clothes

I already have a ton of clothes that I would like to paint, so I do not need to get any more. I would like to watch some videos about this as well, but it is not necessary to do before I actually start. I can start this very soon, because I already have all the materials and know how to do it.

Here is one of those pictures I have in my gallery. I like this system because I can look at the piece and what my ideas were at the same time.

In my gallery on my phone, I took pictures of a bunch of the clothing pieces that I have to paint, and wrote on the pictures what I want to paint on them. This will be very helpful in actually starting to paint clothes again, because it takes away from the anxiety of having to come up with new ideas.

I’m really excited to start painting clothes again. It is such a cool idea to me that people can wear things that I paint on, or even make. Eventually, I will be making posts about those when I finish them, and I will be selling them, if you are interested.

The plan for right now is to paint one piece of clothing every month. I know that this does not sound like a lot, but the process takes a while. First, you clean the fabric, then paint it, then do a second coat, then iron it, then wash it again so all of the paint stays where it is supposed to.

Ironing the clothes after you paint then does take a while since you have to keep the iron on every painted spot for a couple minutes.

I have a whole bunch of clothes that will last me years if I continue to keep this schedule, but if I ever run out of clothes, I will visit a thrift store, which is where I get all of my clothes to paint, and then I will finally have to come up with more ideas.

I have a lot more plans for other things that are coming in the future, but for now I am going to try and make some of the plans that I always talk about a reality finally. I would love to have as many plans as finished products, but that is sadly not the case yet.

Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! I really do appreciate it, and I would like to say hello to all my new followers! Thank you for joining my club, and I hope you will stick around until I post my next blog!

P.S. If you guys would like to look at my art or buy any of it, you can look at it at this link: Buy Resin! and you can buy it through this link: My Depop! 1. Thank you so much! I really do think that I have a lot of good ideas, but I forget most of them because I don’t write them down, so I definitely agree! Thank you for commenting!

  1. I haven’t made any clothes from scratch in many years, but I used to make shirts, blouses, stuffed animals, and my maternity clothes! I used store-bought patterns, but those can be altered to fit different ideas you may have. I used to use a large, fold-up board (with 1″ grid lines) to lay my patterns and material on. Maybe you could buy one of those to make it easier to lay things out. It doesn’t take up much space folded up, and you can lay it out on a table, coffee table, or the floor. Or even a bed, if it’s not too soft!

    1. Thank you so much! That’s really cool that you used to do that! I hope that I can eventually make those things at your level one day. That is a really good idea with the patterns and the board, because I really do not have a lot of surface area to work with. Thank you for the idea and for commenting!
