Art 101: Session 1

Hello! I know it’s been a really long time since I’ve posted any posts, but I want to get back into it. College started a couple of weeks ago, and that has been a lot to manage.

I wanted to start making more frequent posts, and I thought a really good way to do that is to post about what I’ve been doing. One of the classes I’m taking is Drawing I, and we have multiple drawing assignments every single week. I thought it would be interesting to post these every week, since it would show you guys the class, and my progression.

So, in this post, I will be posting all of my drawings from the first session, and then next week I will post my drawings from the second session.

Session 1 was strictly about creating a drawing of our own hand with empathy, trying to get all of the details of the hand in the drawing. We also did a warm up exercise where we drew our hand twice without looking, which was very interesting.

I’m pretty excited to share these with you guys and document my progression. I’m also excited to be posting again, and I hope I can keep it up for a while. I’m not sure how many posts I’ll be making every week, but one of these a week for sure.

I’m kind of thinking of these posts as my portfolio, but I know I will eventually have to have a separate blog page to do that on.

Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and sticking with me through this journey. Also, if you are new, thank you so much for wanting to support me! I’ll see you guys in the next one!

  1. That’s great! I really like the 2nd blind hand. It just seems like there’s a lot of power in it.
I’m also really glad that you keep coming back to post.

    1. Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it, I didn’t really expect anyone to actually enjoy either of the blind contours. That’s interesting that you say that there is a lot of power in it. I’m also glad I keep coming back to post haha. I really want to make this work, and I am willing to push myself to keep posting even when I really do not want to. Thank you for commenting!

    1. Thank you so much! Yeah, I had never heard of blind drawing before either before this class. I think it is a really interesting concept, and I think it is a really good warmup to other drawing exercises. I’m really happy that I am posting again, and I really hope I can keep up enough motivation to keep posting, especially since I just made a very large purchase that I will be writing about soon. Thank you for commenting!
