Hello! Welcome back to another post about my vambulance! I have received a few suggestions for names, but I am not sure what I want to officially call it yet. Anywho, this weekend was the most productive weekend we have had yet, even though we did not do anything this Sunday.
What we got done this weekend:
- New tires
- Made an alignment appointment
- Replaced side view mirrors
- Put in my new floor mats
On Saturday, our first order of business was to get to Discount Tire so they could put my new tires on. This actually went a lot quicker than we thought it would be, so we were already on a roll. The new tires look really nice, and I’m excited to have them. I’m also looking forward to feeling safer on the road. I hope they do not make too much noise on the highway, but I guess I’ll just have to deal with it if they do. Our next objective was to replace the side view mirrors.

When we first started trying to replace these the other weekend, we found out that we had to take the entire door panel off to access the plug for the power in the mirror. So, we put it off until this weekend. My dad actually ended up finding a really good YouTube video to watch about exactly how to do it, so we used that.
My dad brought along his trim removal kit, which did end up being pretty useful. The door panel actually turned out to be really easy to take off, and I was really happy with that. It all came off in one piece, and it was just connected with a couple screws and a couple clips.

I felt like a professional throughout all of this, and I never really thought I would be doing this kind of thing, but here I am. We had to fish the plug for the power through the hollow door through small holes in the metal the door was made out of, and that was a bit difficult. We still got it done, though.

We also found out that the mirrors or locks will not work unless the plug in each door is plugged in. I’m not sure if I explained that right, I mean if the lock plug in the driver’s door is unplugged, but the lock plug in the passenger door is plugged in, the locks will not work. They will only work if the plugs in both of the doors are in. I thought that this was also interesting.

Installing the rest of the new mirror went pretty well, and so did putting the door panel back. It was a little hard to get all of the clips to go in at once, but we got it done. I don’t think that either me or my dad could have done that alone.

We made sure the power mirrors worked after we finished installing them, and they did! This was a great feeling, because this is really the first thing on the van that we had started, and then finished. It felt like an extremely productive day, and we both felt really good about it.

After all of that, I put in the new WeatherTech floor mats that I bought, and they look pretty nice. I forgot to get a picture of them, so hopefully I will remember next week to do that. The inside of the ambulance was relatively very clean when we got it, and I would really like to keep it that way.
I’m really excited to drive it with the new extended side view mirrors, mainly because the previous mirrors didn’t allow for much visibility around the sides of the ambulance. The sides go out about 6 inches past the front cab of it, so the short mirrors made it hard to see into lanes that were on my sides.

Sunday was my mom’s birthday, so we spent that with her. I think our very productive Saurday makes up for not doing much with the van on Sunday. Plus, I got to spend time with my mom on her birthday 🙂
Anywho, that is the end of this blog post for now, and I don’t know if there will be one about my van next week. We have a ton of stuff going on that is not van related, so we will see if anything ends up happening.
Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey. I hope you guys enjoyed this one, because I definitely enjoyed doing this stuff. I’ll be posting a super exciting post this Sunday, so please check back in for that. I’ve been working on it for a couple weeks, and I’m excited to post it.

As I was writing this post, my cat, Jack, was sitting in my window. He never does this when I am in the room, let alone for extended periods of time. I was really really excited, and was trying to write this post as quitely as possible. I love him so much. So, I wanted to share it with you guys. Here are some pictures:

When writing this post, I expected it to be pretty short, since we really only did one thing. However, when I was done writing it, I realized it was as long or longer than the other van posts I had made. Oops!
You’re doing really well, getting things done on the ambulance. I enjoy your enthusiasm! Nice to have Jack keep you company!

Thank you! I’m really hoping my motivation will continue to persist throughout the whole project. I’m glad you enjoy it! Yeah, it was very nice to have him do that since he never has before. Thank you for commenting!

The new extendable mirrors look great! I don’t understand how EMTs drive around not being able to see very well with the original mirrors.
