Ambulance: Week 4

Hello! Welcome back to another post about my beautiful ambulance. This one won’t be super long since we didn’t get a whole lot done last weekend, and there will also be no post next weekend because we also did not do anything this weekend, mostly due to having other responsibilities around the house.

This weekend that I will be talking about, we did a couple things. We wanted to go get the ambulance smogged because our registration appointment was coming up and we also took all of the inside light lenses off because I wanted to clean them.

Sorry for the recent lack of content!

The first thing we did when getting to the ambulance was plan out where we were going to get the smog done. We knew we had to go a special place because the ambulance is diesel. However, when we tried to start the ambulance, it wouldn’t start. My dad thought it might be the battery so we decided to take it out and have o’Reilly test it.

We did find out that the battery was bad, so we had to get a new battery. It kind of sucked to have to spend that extra money, but I am glad that I have a new battery now that will hopefully last me several years. So, we brought our new battery back to the ambulance, and it finally started.

Here is my dad posing with our new shiny fresh battery!

Then, we looked for a diesel smog place, and we found one. However, it turns out that this place actually did not do diesel smogs, so we found another place. We did end up finding a good palce, and it was a whole new experience to see a diesel smog.

Basically, a diesel smog is very special compared to the smog of a normal gas engine. We had to pull the ambulance up and over these two rollers, until the back wheels were in between the two rollers. Then, when the guy started the smog, he put the ambulance into drive and pressed on the gas. Since only the back two wheels move when it’s in drive, the rollers started spinning with the back wheels.

I really wish I had taken a video of this experience, because it really seemed like the ambulance was about to take off during the smog.

I know the picture is blurry, but it was one of the only ones I could find of what I was talking about.

When we got back, I took all of the inside light lenses off to clean them, and they all had a bunch of bugs in them. I was happy that I decided to clean them because that’s gross haha. I have included a couple pictures of what they looked like.

Here are three of the inside lights, two with lenses, and one without.
Here is one of the light lenses close up before I took it off.
Here is one of the lights with the lens removed. It was interesting to me that there were two different light bulbs inside.

I also took some pictures of the new tires we got and the new floor mats, because I completely forgot to last week. Please enjoy the following gallery. 🙂

We also tried to get it registered on Monday, but we ended up having a few problems. We are going back in on Saturday, so wish us luck! I’m excited to get it registered because then we can finally drive it legally without a moving permit.

That’s it for this week, so thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! I love sharing these with you guys, and I hope I can keep entertaining for a long time!
