Hello! Welcome back to another art post. I make these to share the progress I’m making in my college art class, and to also share how I feel about the things I make, whether it be bad or good. This session was no fun, but I want to post it anyways. I am a big advocate of showing real things on social media, and not just the best or your favorite things that you make.
Anyhow, this was a pretty long session, and it was about perspective so you already know I didn’t really like doing it. This session was specifically focused on drawing ellipses, so circles in perspective. This turned out to be a little bit difficult for me and I should’ve practiced beforehand. I saw our professor making the ellipses, and I thought to myself, “Wow, that looks easy,” and it wasn’t very easy at all.
The first part of this session was to draw a big pot or something where the top was under your line of sight, so you could see a little bit into the pot. This was pretty easy and I didn’t spend too much time on it. The ellipses were a little difficult, but that was the most time consuming out of everything.

I also did not like doing the outlines on the top, or the handles. I did not have the motivation to redo any of it since I do not like doing any work with perspective, and it was a longer session than normal.

Next, we had to stack up some boxes (again) and put the same put on top so we could only see the bottom of it. I also really did not like doing this, even more than the last one. I hate trying to get the proportions on all of the boxes right, and also all of the angles on the boxes. The ellipses were also difficult, but not the most frustrating part of this one.

My brain doesn’t really comprehend the different angles of the boxes very well, so I feel like a lot of those are messed up. I also had a hard time with the proportions like I said, so ignore that. The pot was also a little difficult, but easier than the rest.

Then, after I finished all of that, (which didn’t take that long honestly but it felt like it took a long time) we then had to set up some boxes with round things on top. I chose two bowls, a cup, and the same pot from the last two parts. This was the hardest part of this session, mostly because of all the different angles and how much is going on in different directions.

I think this one turned out alright, but I definitely could’ve done better if I spent more time on it. The cylinders definitely do not look right, especially the cup on the top. I drew the ellipses in the wrong direction, since we were not supposed to be able to see into the cup. I’m glad I did this session, and I definitely thing that I should redo this session in the future to get better at this and see my progress.

Well, that’s the whole session for this week. I hope you enjoyed learning about the art I made that I also hate haha, and I’ll be making another post next Sunday about some more art. I’ll also be making another Music Tuesday post this Tuesday, so stay tuned for that. If you would like to read the last one, please click on this link:
Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey l. I appreciate every single one of you who takes the time to read these things that I make, and I hope I can always entertain you all. See you on Tuesday!

P.S. here are the promised picture of Jack the cat. I will still be posting pictures of him every week in my art posts because I love him so much and I think he deserves to be shared with the world.

I really wish that I could tell him how much we all love him and that he would understand it. I also really want to have a cat in my van eventually, but not for a while. I think it would be amazing to take a cat on my travels with me and experience hiking and woods and the beach and everything, alongside me.
I think I can understand why you dislike this type of drawing. Any mistakes you make would show up much more with just those outlines than they would if you were including all the details of the picture, so that would make you more critical of your work. I like your pigtails! Does Jack ever move? Haha
Wow… I’d think it’d be difficult to have a cat on your trips, but I’m sure some people do it.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I agree with that. Haha, yes Jack does occasionally move. There are a lot of people who have animals in their vans, and I do think a cat would be easier than a dog, even though I wouldn’t want a dog to begin with. There is a lot of planning and training and time and effort and money and all that, but I think the companionship would be worth it. Thank you for commenting!
