Hello hello! Welcome back to another art post. We are very quickly nearing the end of these, which is both exciting and a little sad. If you do not know what this is, it’s where I post all of the different things I’ve been doing in my college art class.
There were two sessions to do this week, but I only did one of them. I procrastinated until the last second of the last day, and then I realized I didn’t have the materials needed for the second session. I also knew that my grade was good enough to still have almost a 100% in the class if I skipped a session.
So, this will be a relatively short post.
The first session of the week was a study of fabric. We were supposed to tack up a piece of dark cloth to the wall and then draw it with our burnt sienna toned charcoal. I also think we were supposed to layer in some normal charcoal, but I did not do that. The piece of fabric that I used was a dark green towel that we had, and I think it was a good choice.

The first thing we had to do before the tonal drawing was a cross contour drawing of the fabric. I did not like this part at all and I was not getting the hang of it while doing it. Now, looking at it, I see where I made mistakes and I see what I did well. I really want to do this whole session again to make sure I have all of these concepts down.

I was working on this whole session in the evening, so I was already tired and a little bit frustrated. As I was doing this drawing, I was getting super frustrated with it and did not think it looked like cloth or flowed at all. Looking at it now, I really do like it.
This was also the first session I used my white charcoal pencil, and that part turned out really well. I wish I had used the white charcoal in my previous drawings since it would definitely add another layer of depth to it.
I really need to do this whole session again. I really admire people who can draw or paint fabric really well, and I want to get there at some point in my life. As I’m writing this, I’ve already don’t the next session for the next week and my fabric in that was not as good as this one, so don’t get your hopes up haha.

Overall, this session was frustrating, but I like the result.
That is all I have for you guys this week! I hope you guys thought it was entertaining, and please leave a comment letting me know what you think about these drawings!
Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! I really hope I can continue to make engaging content for years to come. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you in the next one!

P.S. here are the promised pictures of Jack, just because I love him so much and I think you guys deserve to see how dang cute he is!

I love the burnt sienna drawing. I need it in my life.
