Music Tuesday: What the Heck Have I Been Listening To?!

Hello! Welcome back to another Music Tuesday. This is another general “What am I listening to?” kind of post. I’m pretty excited to be writing this post because I (unfortunately) have not written one in a while.

I do have a few bands to talk about this week that I have been listening to, but I honestly have not been listening to much music lately. I like to listen to my music in the car, and I usually watch YouTube for fun or when I shower or am doing chores, etc, so there are not many opportunities for me to listen to music.

Anyways, I hope to change that, so let me get onto the music! The three bands I’ll be talking about this week are Electric Callboy, GWAR, and Motionless in White. I do know that the last time I made a post like this I talked about Electric Callboy, but since I wrote that post they came out with a new song. I will be talking about that, just because I want to.

Electric Callboy – New Song

I actually didn’t even know that this band came out with a new song until my friend who introduced me to them told me about it. Most of their songs have a half and half pop/metal sound, and this song didn’t really have that at all. It’s probably my least favorite song of their most recent ones, but it’s still a good song.

It feels a lot more like a pop song than a metal song, which isn’t really what I am into. They also collaborated with a female led band, and the lead singer of that band has some singing parts in this song, which further makes it sound much different than their current songs.

I’m not going to go out of my way to listen to this song in particular, but it doesn’t make me like the band any less. I also think I will make an effort to learn the song and all of the words just so I know it for the future concert I’m going to with my friend.

GWAR – New Album

GWAR came out with a new album in the very beginning of June, so I am a bit late to the party. However, I do like most of the songs on the album. A lot of them are really my style, but I’m not sure if they really sound like GWAR. The first half of the album is pretty sludgy metal, which I really like, and then the rest of the album (besides a few songs that I will talk about later) just sound like they have a typical metal sound.

I really do think I will listen to this album a lot, and I do want to learn all of the songs. I especially like the first half, and I think I will listen to those in particular the most.

At the end of the album, they have 3 songs, all with the label at the end of (Death Whistle Suite). Now, I am not sure what that means, but I listened to all 3 of them and they almost sound like ambient music, one more than the others. This is actually really exciting, because they have to have a lot of music like this for their live shows.

Their live shows include a lot of intermissions and moving around and fight scenes between characters, so this makes me think some of these will be used during that. I also really like all of them, especially the one titled Temple Ascent. I’m not sure I would listen to these all of the time, but I do really like them.

I also tried to research why these three songs had that added in parenthesis, and I couldn’t find much information, just speculation. I am excited to go to a show in the future to see if their shows have anything to do with it.

Overall, I really liked the album. I do think that long time GWAR fans might be a little upset or disappointed that it doesn’t sound much like their other music, but I like it.

Motionless in White

I have been on and off listening to this band for years, but I never got much into them. Recently, they have gone on two tours, one of which is happening right now, so I thought I would get myself more into it.

I do really like most of their songs. They have a really nice sound, to me. I have also seen them live, but at a festival from a different stage, so it was not very close up haha. I would really like to see them again, and I am working on making arrangements to see them on their tour later this year.

I do really like this band and I know they are a super popular band in the rock/metal scene, so I would really like to get a lot more into them. I do think this is a good start though.

That’s all I have to talk about this week! I hope you guys enjoyed reading about the music I’ve been listening to! I will be posting more often, I know that sounds like an empty promise now ahaha, but I am really trying. If you guys have any suggestions of new music to listen to, or want to tell me what music you guys have been listening to, please leave me a comment!

Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! I appreciate every single one of you for sticking with me, and hopefully I will have new and exciting content very soon! I’ll see you guys in the next one 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! I really really hope I do eventually as well. I really appreciate that. I try my best to review them well, but I’m going to try and research other people’s music reviews to try and get even better at it. Thank you for commenting!
