Music Tuesday: What the Heck Have I Been Listening To?!

Hello! I’m not sure how interesting these actually are, but here is another post about what I’ve been listening to recently! I’ve been trying to get into new metal music, but I’ve also encountered a music rut as well, which has not been fun.

This post will be cut into 3 sections, so feel free to skip around if you want. First will be the metal playlists I’ve been listening to, then a new band I discovered called Mork, and then I’ll be talking a little bit about my music rut that I’ve been in.

Metal Playlists

I use Spotify, and Spotify has a bunch of playlists their team has made of all different genres, and there are also a bunch of metal ones. They did just recently get rid of one and combine two, which a lot of people are not happy about, but I didn’t get there in time to listen to those before that happened.

Usually, I have a pretty hard time looking for and finding new music to listen to, so I figured if I found some premade playlists it might make it a little easier, and it did. I haven’t listened to all of the playlists I found yet, but I have listened to a few.

I like listening to the Metalcore Classics, Old School Metal and the hits of the 00s. I will include links to those at the bottom of this section if you are interested in checking them out. I do think it is good for me to start my new music journey with all of the classic metal music that I missed when I was younger.

Even though I do know generally what I like, I still think this will give me a better, more refined idea of what my exact taste in metal music is. Also, then I will know which classic metal bands I enjoy and which ones I don’t. I do feel a little embarrassed knowing that I barely know any mainstream metal music and I say that I really like metal.

Mork

Mork is a one man black metal band formed in Norway. I first discovered them at a record shop when I saw one of their records and really liked how their logo looked. I’m not sure why, but the logo really stuck with me and I knew I had to listen to their music.

I was unaware that their music was black metal before I listened to them, and I was really surprised I liked it as much as I did when I found out. I don’t like a lot of black metal, but this just proves that it’s always good to try new things, even if it’s a different version of something you didn’t like in the future.

I’m pretty sure that none of their music is in English, but I really like it more than I expected. The first song I listened to was the most popular song of theirs on Spotify, and it was amazing. I’m really glad I started listening to this band honestly. I would really like to start listening to more of their music in the future. I think it’ll be some music that I listen to relatively frequently.

I recently bought some really good headphones that have really good sound quality, so when I first listened to that first song it sounded SO GOOD and I’m so happy I bought them. It’s really such a different experience when the quality of the sound is better. I usually would listen to music in my car or in my earbuds, but neither of those compare to these headphones.

I would absolutely love to see Mork in concert, and I really hope they come to the US sometime. They also remind me of that show Mork and Mindy, which I also like haha. I will be getting more into this band in the very near future.

Music Rut

Kind of been in a bit of a music rut where I wanna listen to something but I don’t want to listen to anything old or anything new, so I just end up listening to the same playlist over and over again.

I also need to go into my old account and make a playlist of all of my old liked songs because you can’t publicly access that. I really do miss that music and I think that will stave off the music rut for at least a little bit while I rediscover all of that.

Spotify also creates a couple weekly playlists based off of your listening habits, one being Discover Weekly. This is just about 2 hours worth of songs that are similar to the stuff you listen to, but that you’ve never heard before.

I used to really like this playlist on my last Spotify account, but with the new account I have, it hasn’t been good at all. It’s like it doesn’t even know what I’ve been listening to because I barely ever like any songs that they recommend for me. Maybe after I find a bunch of new music I like it’ll be better.

Anyways, the point is, I haven’t really been excited about listening to music lately and I am trying to get back into it. I do think it’s getting better, but only time will tell.

That’s all the music I have to talk about today! I hope you guys enjoyed reading about what the heck I’ve been listening to this week. If you have any comments, questions, or music suggestions for following posts, please leave me a comment below! I love reading comments and responding to them.

Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! I really appreciate every single one of you, and I hope I can keep putting out interesting content for at least months to come! I’ll see you guys in the next one!
