Music Tuesday: Slipknot Concert!

Hello! I’m pretty excited to make this post since this was such a good concert. The lineup was Ho99o9, Cypress Hill, and Slipknot. I only went to this concert because my parents wanted to buy tickets or my birthday, which was super amaizng. I don’t think we would have gone if that hadn’t happened since the tickets were a little bit expensive.

It was interesting to me that Slipknot was touring with two mainly rap bands, when they are pretty rock/metal. However, I think they all fit pretty well and it was a good decision, even if some people didn’t like it.

Here we are before the concert! They poured the water I got into a cup which was super annoying, but oh well.

This post will be structured like this: why we went, how I felt about the music beforehand, each band itself, how I felt about the concert overall, and final thoughts. I have already talked about why we went, since it was a birthday present from my parents, so we will move onto the second section.

How I Felt About The Music Beforehand

I had heard of ho99o9, but never really listened to their music. I did know that their shows were kind of crazy since I had been at rocklahoma when they were performing and there were a lot of lights. I was excited to see them for that reason.

I have both listened to a lot of Cypress Hill before and seen them live at aftershock last year. I was excited to see them again but not super excited since a lot of their music sounds really simialr, but excited nontheless.

I’ve also been listening to Slipknot for a while, and I have also seen them live. I do like their music a lot, but don’t really listen to it on a daily basis. I do know that their shows are a lot of fun, so I was excited to see them and I knew I liked their music and I knew some of it by heart as well, so that was nice to me.

I really honestly thought I got some better pictures than this, but one of the two guys was wearing a really cool costume that I’m going to try and find a better picture online.

Ho99o9

I really didn’t know what to expect besides knowing it was two guys who do rap music. I was really impressed with the show honestly. They had some props, and one of them was completely dressed up and looked amazing. I will try to find a picture online of that since I didn’t happen to take a good one.

This is kind of what his costume looked like, except more tribal.

Their music was a lot of fun and I’m glad I got to see them. The family standing in front of us rolled their eyes and complained to each other the whole time, probably because they don’t like rap/ didn’t know why this band was at a Slipknot concert. That was a little annoying but it’s them not having a good time, not me.

I really, really liked them and I’m glad I finally got to see them haha. I don’t think I’ll really be frequently listening to their music, but I do think that I would want to see them again in the future if I got the chance.

Here is the stage after they finished, I really like the banner, and I think they put on a really cool performance.

Cypress Hill

Really fun, some really annoying people behind us though haha, and that woman grabbed my mom’s head which was outta pocket

One member was in the hospital, but there were a lot of good songs I knew and it was a fun show, they had us say hi to him in the hospital and even though he had no idea, I thought that was really cool.

Here is the stage before their show, the black curtains over everything remind me a lot of GWAR, and I also really like the logo.

The main singer guy smoked a cigar the whole time and that was pretty funny

The skull prop was really cool, pretty sure there was a synth behind it, but I’m not exactly sure what it’s called. The drum set had a bunch of fake weed on it, whcih was also in tune with their vibe.

Right after the Cypress Hill show, the people in front of us let me and my mom later go in front of them which was super nice and being so close was very exciting, there was that super creepy guy who kept staring directly at me and smiling though, but I was just there to enjoy my time so I mostly ignored him.

They cover the stage with a huge curtain before they start the performance, and it does take a while to set everything up and the hype when the curtain comes down makes a lot of sense as to why they would have this.

Slipknot

Took a long time to get started, but it was worth it.

This is our view from peeking behind the curtain, it was billowing in the wind so it was pretty easy to see behind.

I like how all of the screens have just like default stuff on them, like the cylindrical ones have numbers on them so you can tell which one is having problems and everything.

Here we are before the Slipknot show started, I know it’s a blurry picture but it was the only one I got haha.

I was so excited for the curtain to drop, especially since we were right in front of it. It was very hype for everyone in the whole stadium when the curtain came down.

Corey Taylor is a great dude and he was very grateful to be doing this and I really like him. He’s an amazing performer as well and I’m so happy that I got to see them.

This is really the only picture I got of the show, but there are some videos that I put at the end of this post that I do think are objectively more interesting if you wanted to watch those.

It was also a really long show and it was so much fun and there weren’t many annoying people around us anymore which was really nice. I’m so happy I got to go and I’m so grateful my parents wanted to buy me tickets for my birthday.

Omg there was also fire haha I have to talk about that.

Here we are after the show, in a total bottleneck while everyone was trying to get out at once.

How I Felt About The Concert Overall

I had a really amazing time at this concert. Each band was a lot of fun and being able to stand front row at Slipknot was even more amazing. I definitely want to see all of the bands again, and I’m so grateful I got to go.

Each band had their own completely distinct personality and I think that really adds a lot to the performances. Concerts and music are definitely art, and I’m so glad I get to experience things like this in my lifetime.

Final Thoughts

The venue was pretty cool, it was also the same place where I graduated so that was pretty funny. There are always obnoxious, annoying people at every concert I go to, so I can’t really knock points off for that. I’ve been trying to go to concerts and have a good time no matter what, and that has been working out pretty well.

I love concerts so much, and this really just solidified that. It was an amazing experience and I’m so glad and grateful that I got to attend it. I’m really excited for everything else to come!

Thank you all so much for reading my blog post and supporting my journey! I appreciate every single one of you! If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to leave a comment down below. I try to respond to everyone!

That’s all I have to say about this concert, so I’m going to wrap it up here. I’ll see you guys in the next one!
