Hello! I thought it would be fun to start reviewing playlists as well, including my own playlists. This post will be a review of one of my many playlists that I’ve made over the past 7 years. I will also be making more frequent playlists to represent what I’m listening to at the time. I think this will be fun at the time of making them, and also fun to look back on in future years when my taste in music has changed.
In this post, I’m going to talk about the playlist as a whole, what music is on it, why I made it, why it’s named what it’s named, and then I’ll talk about what I think about it, what I like, what I don’t like, favorite songs, least favorite songs, and then I’ll finally talk about the changes I’d like to make and what I’m going to do with the playlist in the future.
All About The Playlist
The playlist I’m going to be reviewing today is called “skinned alive.” I named it this because I knew someone who would really not like this playlist at all so I thought that would be a funny name. It doesn’t have a whole lot of songs on it, but it is a mainly emo playlist. I made this playlist originally about 6 years ago, and haven’t added or subtracted anything from it yet.
I made this playlist because I had a friend who introduced me to all of this music and I wanted a separate playlist from my main playlist to house all of this music. My main playlist that I made when I first got Spotify has almost 40 hours of music on it, so I wanted to be able to choose what I was listening to a little more concisely.
Playlist Review
Overall, I think I would give this playlist a 7/10. It could use some improvements and some tweaks here and there, but I still really like listening to it even without the improvements. Even if I never changed anything about this playlist, I do think I would be listening to it for a few more years.
I haven’t honestly listened to a lot of emo music besides what is on this playlist already, so I’d really like to do that before I add anything to it. I’m not even sure what other kinds of emo music are out there right now, so that would definitely have to come first.
The only song I would think about removing is By Tonight by Say Anything, since it’s a bit more of a slower, sad song than the rest of them on the playlist. I don’t think I would remove any other songs, which I expected because it’s a relatively short playlist.
This playlist is only 41 minutes long, and that is probably one of the biggest things I don’t like about it. That’s maybe like a round trip somewhere in the car, and no longer than that. A lot of my more recent playlist are about 4 hours long, if not longer, and I really like that. I like being about to put on a playlist in the car every day and not getting the same combination of songs every time.
What Am I Gonna Change?
I’m definitely going to find some more good emo songs that I really like to add to this playlist. I’m going to try to find songs that are already similar to the ones on it already, so the vibe stays mostly the same. I know there are a lot of subgenres of emo music, so I have to go through a lot of music to find what I want.
I’m probably going to remove the song I previously talked about, just because I usually skip that song anyways and it doesn’t really fit with the other songs. I usually have a hard time taking songs off of my playlists because I feel like I’ll lose the song forever and I won’t be able to find it again, but I know that’s not true at all so I’m trying to get better at it.
I will link the playlist below if any of you guys want to listen to it. Also if you have any suggestions for emo songs or anything else, please feel free to leave a comment. I reply to every one, and I really like interacting with you guys!
